Privacy

Account information

Your email and date of birth stay private. Your display name, username, and public galleries are visible to visitors. How many accounts follow you, how many you follow and who they are is shown only to you, on your People page; an account you follow, or that follows you, can see that one follow.

Artwork visibility

Public posts appear in your galleries. Friends posts appear there only for your friends: the accounts you follow that follow you back, for as long as both follows last. Unlisted posts are accessible through a link. Private posts are visible only to you on Sonafied. Mature artwork has additional viewing restrictions. Someone with a direct link to a published image can still view or share that image.

Chats

A chat is between you and one friend, and only the two of you can read it on Sonafied. Chats are not end-to-end encrypted: if a chat is reported, our support team can review that conversation. A chat stays readable to you both after you stop being friends, although neither of you can send in it. It is removed for you both when either of you deletes their account.

An image you send in a chat can be seen only by the two of you. It is stored without the details a camera embeds, such as where a photo was taken, and it counts toward your storage. Deleting a message removes it and its image for you both; it cannot take back what the other person has already seen or saved.

If you turn on browser notifications, your browser shows the sender’s name and the start of each message on that device. Sonafied does not email you about messages.

Communities

A Public community can be seen by anyone, signed in or not, and so can its channels: the messages and images its members write there and the posts they share. Only its members can write, share or delete in them. A Private community can be seen only by its members: to everyone else it is as if it were not there. The members of a community can see who else belongs to it, and everyone who can open a community can see who runs it.

A post you share to a Public community names that community wherever the post is shown. Sharing a post never changes who can see the post itself. When you leave a community, are removed from it or delete your account, what you shared there leaves the community and the messages you wrote in its channels are removed.

A Private community’s channels can be read by every current member, including people who join later, who can read what was written before they joined. A Public community’s channels can be read by anyone, so do not write there what you would not publish; if its owner makes a Private community Public, what was written while it was Private becomes readable by anyone too. Channels are not end-to-end encrypted: if a community’s channels are reported, our support team can review them. An image you send in a channel can be seen by everyone who can read the channel. It is stored without the details a camera embeds, such as where a photo was taken, and it counts toward your storage.

A channel message can be deleted by the person who sent it and by the community’s owner and moderators. Deleting it removes it and its image for everyone in the channel; it cannot take back what others have already seen or saved. Channel messages raise no notification, and Sonafied does not email you about them.
